hello, friends!

heaps of good things going on around here lately. this week has been FULL of accomplishment, and for that I am grateful. not so much in the 'craft/sewing' or 'cooking/baking' aspects, but in other areas which are very much needed. :) lots of work done to kicksclub (yes, please go look) and sybilludington (again, yes, go look). I do have a small collage of photos to share:

and guess who ate the last cookie. (*pst* it wasn't Ashley :)) and tonight I made more. yes. I have fallen in love with all things homemade. I thought I had already arrived there until I made homemade chocolate chip cookies again (it had been a while). shewboy. how could I ever eat that 'ready to bake' stuff?! I had intended to make pumpkin muffins this past week but alas, I did not get around to doing so. maybe tomorrow. then again, maybe not. :)

I suppose that's all for now. there is more to update on, always, but because I am not wanting to take the brain power to think and type what all those things are, I will now say goodbye. :)

xo!
Candice

p.s.
for those who were concerned as I was, Brooke is doing better. she posted another update on her myspace blog. please continue to keep her in your prayers tho. the girl works hard and gives so much. I just love her heart. :) thanks!

finished apron

so here is a picture of the finished "regency inspired" apron.

The straps look a little goofy because I was goofing off while she was taking the picture and they got messed up. Anyways this is the finished project and I am happy with it.

Happy Creating!

my first finished owl... he's a little wonky, yes, but I still heart him

cross stitched napkins

mug with hot milk - mmmmmm!

all of this plus music from Wild Sweet Orange and Aaron Espe. beautiful.

as for today, woah. lots going on around here. this is sort of a 'get away' for the moment, but as soon as I hit 'publish post' it's back to work. oh, I love life. :)

p.s.
ashsmash should be posting photo of her finished apron which equals totally cute. she's making me one that I'm going to wear as a 'jumper' rather than an apron. funfun.

goodtimes!

what's better than baking with a friend while sewing and listening to some beautiful music? ...I can't really think of anything. :) (these are from Thursday night)

oatmeal raisin. my FAVORITE ever.

another owl.

me. and Ashley throwing in gang signs.

the big pile of oatmeal cookies. (no raisin. I only make a few of those for myself because nobody else really like raisins.)

and the music, btw, was Christa Black and Tyler Burkum. total Autumn favorites!

today I'm working on ANOTHER owl. yeah, totally into the owls right now. he's similar to the one above, but has defined wings and his little feathers are in the center. he's 'my own', unlike the first one I did a few days ago. I'll share when I'm finished.

the rest of today will include [hopefully] a walk, more sewing, corn chowder and just a bit of housework. :) hope your Saturday is beautiful!

prayers

I'm sure that most of you know how much I love, respect... simply adore Brooke Fraser. she is so very dear to me and has meant so, so much to me through the past few years. well, today I read her myspace blog which stated that she had to cancel a tour due to being ill. this made me a bit sad. I feel for her. I know she would tough it out if she could, and the fact that she can not tells me that she is seriously sick. it would mean a lot to me if you guys could pray for her. pray for her strength, pray that she would recover quick and for her continued health, and that she would rest the way that she should. whatever this illness may be, it is temporary and she will be up and at'em in no time, I know, but I still feel for her. I know she works herself mighty hard.

thanks in advance for saying a little prayer for our beloved Brooke. it means heaps. :)

first Elsie, then Jessica, now me...

saw this on Jessica's blog today after seeing it on Elsie's blog a while ago. today I was inspired to post it. so, here we go.

7 very random things about myself:

1. always keep my fingernails short
2. only wear dew kiss [avon] chapstick
3. can lift one eyebrow at a time
4. love the John Adams series [HBO]
5. pretty much always barefoot while in the house
6. loved the movie 'penelope'
7. want to make this:

today has been beautiful! I love talking a walk on the grass through the fallen leaves. o, how I love Autumn!

now I'm off to finish up some sewing. :)

I've been avoiding this blog...

Actually not really but it kinda seems that way. It's been about six months. But a very busy six months.

As Candice said in the last post, we are both working on a movie. She in the Assistant Director and Costume Designer position and I in the Costume Assistant position. So basically I am her minion (jk) :). So in researching costumes and such we have been watching a lot of 18th century movies. Well we snuck a few Jane Austen's in there. We'll take any excuse to watch one. Well we were watching Sense and Sensibility the other night and Emma Thompson had the CUTEST apron on. S of course my little creative mind decided that I had to make on of those.
So in addition to making costumes for a movie I have decided that I must have a Regency period apron. Ok so here are two picture from the movie with the apron. There are black and white but you can get the idea.

No I kinda have an excuse for making it. See I need to wear an apron while I "distress" the costumes and I could use this. Or use this one normal and my other one for distressing. I'll figure it out. :)

Ok so here are some lovely videos

This is an older Mat Kearney video but I love this version better than the "normal" version.

And here is the new Wild Sweet Orange video (I love their music).

Well that is all for now.

Happy Creating!
Ashley

a [somewhat] hefty update

so, here I sit at nearly 4 in the morning, after a long yet very productive week to share things with you, our lovely (and few) readers. the week was full of sewing, makeup, hair, photoshoots, laughs, text messages, myspace, granola, pears, muffins, and corn chowder (which was delicious!) and lots and lots of accomplishment concerning the whole reason I'm posting right now. I am here to finally share more of the news concerning the movie we're doing which was mentioned in the previous post. are you ready?! :)

Sybil Ludington (the movie).

our movie is about a 16 year old girl named Sybil Ludington who was a brave and courageous patriot. her story is true and takes place in 1777. it's beautiful and inspiring, and we are delighted to make it into a motion picture. :) the movie website is finally live (tho there is still a lot of info to be added, so if you view it now, please make note to view again in a week or two) -- sybilludington and it includes all sorts of info on Sybil and our cast and our crew [so far]. it also includes a blog which I will be updating hopefully pretty regularly, so if you don't see anything here for a bit, check that. :) we are so thankful to those who have 'jumped in' this thing with us. we know this is His timing and are blessed to be called to lead this project. because of the time period of the movie there are several, several, several costumes that need to be made. I am excited to be 'Costume Designer' on this project (Ashley is 'Costume Assistant', btw) and am eager to see this all unfold.

as for other 'little somethings'...
a photo of my granola in a jar. I am LOVING this stuff right now. eating it with milk just about every morning. so yummy. I would share the recipe but it is way too late for me to try to find that right now. I will probably edit this tomorrow and add it then. but for now...

also, we did an interview for KICKS with David Barton this past week. amazing. the man is such a river of rich, godly American history. I very much respect him and was very blessed to meet him and his wife and am so very eager to see these shows edited and aired. what he has to say is so, so important for us to hear. a blessing and refreshment.

I do suppose that's all for now. there is probably more that I should add, but can not think of it at such an hour. :) I hope you are all well.

xo!
