ahh, blogging!

wow. it's been a VERY long time since I have crossed this blog but I have felt super inspired lately to start blogging again. I would like to blog at least once a week... but we shall see what time and energy permits. :)

production is over. what a journey. everything was wonderful -- certainly a great experience for all!! and I learned a LOT, ha. looking forward to more movie productions in the future (actually have a few in thought right now... I'm already starting to study costumes. eeee!). I am so very excited all that He has planned. we've actually been home for a bit now, but honestly it's been a bit of a challenge trying to kick into some sort of sync again. I have so many things that I need to do, but I had such a daily rhythm when doing costumes... it's a bit hard finding that rhythm right now... and what that rhythm should include. but it's at times like these that I rest in the fact that it's all held in hands much bigger than mine, and I really don't need to concern myself... just take it a step at a time in trust.

there have been so many things inspiring me lately... one, for certain, is music. a few new listens lately -- new United, MuteMath and Mat Kearney. one of Kearney's songs, Never Be Ready, is really 'right there' for me right now... I'm going to share some lyrics, tho listening to the song as a whole is always the best method:

we'll never be ready if we keep waiting
for the perfect time to come
hold me steady we'll never be ready
when we don't know, tho we can't see
just walk on down this road with me
hold me steady never be ready

just motivates me to take the step... even when I'm uncertain because of my own reasoning or previous failure... I just need to take the step and go with it.

on a slightly lighter note... I have accomplished a lot this weekend and am proud of my nearly crossed off to do list (yes, blogging was on it). intend to do some baking tonight and finish a shirt I'm working on (photos, promise). for now, of course, going to share a few photos of my newly organized loft (finishing the organizing was one of the things on my list).

next up:
garden
dinner
KICKS Club shoot
sewing

ah, love my life. :D

lovelovelove!

apology for the delay

Hello faithful readers. We first would like to apologize for the delay in posting. As Candice explained a few posts down we are smack in the middle of production for a movie. Candice serves as Costume Designer and Assistant Director and I serve as Assistant Costume Designer. We are one month away from the shoot of the movie and as I type and and the rest of the crew are on their way back from a read-thru/ dress rehearsal. So the next month will be filled with alteration, costume distressing, and any other final costume prep that must be done.

We both appreciate your patience and thank you for your prayers and support. If you would like more information about the movie head over to sybilludingtonmovie.com. There you can meet the cast and crew, read about the story of "Sybil Ludington", see a few behind the scenes pics of costumes and such, and read a few of the productions blogs that are up there.

So once again thank you for your love and support and we promise after May to get on a more normal posting schedule. We love you all! :)

Happy Creating!
Ashley

delight in the little things...

soaps. one of my current favorites is wrapped bar soaps. so pretty. so fancy. I want to start collecting them. I have one bar right now from Crabtree & Evelyn. it's called 'Corgi Soap' and shaped like a little corgi. it's darling. I love picking it up and smelling the box. oh, the little things I take such delight in. I want pretty much every single one from Anthro. just so cute.

as for the rest of life :), it is busy. lots going on with pre-production. we have purchased a few bits of fabric and have scheduled a gathering for all of us costume-types. we are going to work work work. it will be goodtimes, I am sure of it.

also been busy with Christmas goodies. it seems a bit early, as usually I don't start until about a week into December. but because I am busy with so many other things this year, and want to do HEAPS of Christmas projects (more than my usual), I felt the need to kick in early. honestly, I feel a bit overwhelmed right now. but as I keep planning and making to-do lists, I will be okay.

Thanksgiving was wonderful. tried a few new recipes and I LOVED the dressing/stuffing (whatever you call it). it was delicious. the recipe is old and simple, as I got it out of one of my Butt'ry Shelf books. I will not make any other dressing now that I have made that one. I think it was the spices mix that made it soooo good. I also made the pumpkin pies from that book and everyone loved them. everything I have ever made from those books has been delicious. if I need a 'traditional' recipe, I always check those books first. they never fail. (and the illustrations are adorable, of course.)

well, I am off to have some cocoa and work on more Christmas-y things. hope you are are doing well and keeping warm (or cool, to Mr. Australia! ;)).

xo!

ahhh, November

it is utterly amazing that it's November already. WHERE did the time go? how is it that we only have 2 months left in the year? it has zoomed by me at alarming speeds. but I am excited nonetheless and eager for all that is to come. (not so eager tho, that I miss out on the good things of 'today'.)

as this current weekend was approaching, I determined to 'take it easy' and do some of my favorite things. time with family + friends, bake, craft (haven't done that one yet but I do still have tomorrow), post to the blog, etc. so far, so good. :) I baked pumpkin muffins (my ultimate favorite, and the recipe I have is divine!) and they are so yummy and perfect. they shall be my breakfast tomorrow. and the next day. and the next day. until they are gone. :)

this week ahead of me will include a lot of work. magazine. crafts. christmas goodies. emails. corn chowder (oh, wait. that's not work!). reviews. research. script editing. ...just to name a few. so, if it is a while before another post from me [us?] then I do apologize in advance. I DO hope to post before too long. that IS my intention. but we shall see what happens. :)

and I also apologize for the lack of photo. I want to post one but nothing is coming to mind. :) so for now...

xo!

p.s.
I have found some new music that I MUST make mention of. I LOVE their stuff. it is so, so lovely. the perfect combo of mellow and rock. and the vocals are beautiful! skypiper. they have a myspace, and are on ilike, so look 'em up. :)

hello, friends!

heaps of good things going on around here lately. this week has been FULL of accomplishment, and for that I am grateful. not so much in the 'craft/sewing' or 'cooking/baking' aspects, but in other areas which are very much needed. :) lots of work done to kicksclub (yes, please go look) and sybilludington (again, yes, go look). I do have a small collage of photos to share:

and guess who ate the last cookie. (*pst* it wasn't Ashley :)) and tonight I made more. yes. I have fallen in love with all things homemade. I thought I had already arrived there until I made homemade chocolate chip cookies again (it had been a while). shewboy. how could I ever eat that 'ready to bake' stuff?! I had intended to make pumpkin muffins this past week but alas, I did not get around to doing so. maybe tomorrow. then again, maybe not. :)

I suppose that's all for now. there is more to update on, always, but because I am not wanting to take the brain power to think and type what all those things are, I will now say goodbye. :)

xo!
Candice

p.s.
for those who were concerned as I was, Brooke is doing better. she posted another update on her myspace blog. please continue to keep her in your prayers tho. the girl works hard and gives so much. I just love her heart. :) thanks!
